Co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union

We are happy to present the first official deliverables developed within the framework of WOOF – When Outdoor Opens Future, a project co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union and coordinated by ASD Centro Cinofilo Casalotti (Italy), in collaboration with SportsRoom (Bulgaria) and CATTT – Clube Açoriano de Trail, Triatlo e Turismo (Portugal).

WOOF promotes gender equality, outdoor sports, and inclusive event management, while actively addressing key European priorities such as Inclusion and Diversity, Environmental Sustainability, Digital Transformation, and Civic Engagement.

As part of this mission, the partnership has created three educational and practical resources that are now available to youth workers, educators, sport clubs and civil society organisations across Europe:

D1.1 – Gender Gap in the Sports Sector: A Comprehensive Overview

This document introduces the concept of gender and provides accessible insights into the origins and impacts of gender stereotypes in different areas of life — including sports. It includes:

  • Definitions and reflections on gender-related concepts

  • A historical perspective on gender studies

  • Data on gender inequality in sports, with a focus on leadership roles

  • Key European strategies for gender equality (EU Gender Equality Strategy, Istanbul Convention, TEU, TFEU, and more)

  • A call to action to break down barriers and promote inclusive access to all roles within the sports world

Ideal for workshops, awareness campaigns, and non-formal education activities.

D1.5 – Outdoor Benefits for All

This deliverable outlines the physical, psychological, social, and environmental benefits of outdoor sport and physical activity. The content highlights:

  • The role of outdoor activity in improving mental and physical health

  • Its capacity to create inclusive communities

  • The relevance of outdoor sports for social cohesion, identity building and accessibility

  • Why sport should be seen not only as a practice but as a lifestyle — one that is healthy, affordable, and sustainable

This publication speaks to anyone interested in leveraging sport for public health and social inclusion.

D1.7 – How to Organize an Outdoor Sports Event: A Practical Guide

This guide is a step-by-step manual designed to support the planning and execution of outdoor sports events. It includes:

  • How to structure the phases of event design: preparation, implementation and follow-up

  • Budgeting, team coordination, permits and logistics

  • Sustainable choices for green and low-impact events

  • Promotion, communication and involvement of local communities

  • Tools for monitoring, evaluation, and ensuring long-term impact

Whether you're a local club or a youth group, this tool offers concrete support for turning your ideas into action.

These three deliverables reflect WOOF’s strong commitment to empowering young people and organisations through knowledge and practical experience. They are free and accessible resources, designed to be shared, reused, and adapted in local contexts.
